The Learn to Play Hockey program at the Lancaster Ice Rink is structured prepare and encourage children (from age 3 and older) to have the appropriate skill base for a positive, successful start and continuing career in the sport of ice hockey. This program is a fun and encouraging atmosphere for skaters to learn the "ins and outs" of ice hockey. Players will learn basic skating and ice hockey skills in a pressure-free atmosphere. The skill development drills will focus on stick handling, passing, shooting, and other aspects important in the game of hockey.
* We highly recommend The Learn to Skate Program before registering for our Learn to Play Hockey Program. The Coaching Director for Learn to Skate Program will recommend when the transition from Learn to Skate to Learn to Play Hockey should occur.
Required Equipment: Full equipment is required for all players and includes a USA Hockey approved helmet with cage, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hockey pants, shin pads, and hockey gloves. Lancaster Ice Rink has a limited amount of equipment for use.
* All Learn to Play Hockey classes are on Fridays evenings from 5:15 p.m.-6:15 p.m.
